According to statistics released by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx), on May 4, the U.S. company acquired approximately 8.1 million shares in CSCL for HK$16.69 million. The average price of the transaction is HK$2.06 apiece.

After the deal, JPMorgan held about 377.61 million H-shares of the country's biggest container shipping company.

Meanwhile, UBS AG, a premier global financial services company, bought around 11.68 million H-shares of CSCL, lifting its stake in the latter from 7.74% to 8.01%, sources said.

H-shares of CSCL retreated 4.48% to HK$2.13 on Thursday.
